2003 January 14 UTA Transit Trip

2003 January 14 Transit Trip

After working a long grave yard shift it was time to head home. I walked from my worked about a block and a half to the corner of 1000 East and Union Park Blvd South to catch Route 44.

Route 44          Bus 9005         1990 MCI Classic 40-Foot Bus

These Classics are due to be retired pretty soon but I will miss them. They are far better in build quality than any of the low floor buses now being produced. These buses have virtually no rattles while two year old low floor buses rattle badly.

I take this route on the regular basis and it usually has the same people on it. There is one attractive single mother and her child and another guy on the bus. I wonder what these people do now that all service has been cut on this route and not replaced.

I ride the bus to the corner of Highland Drive and Alta Drive and walk over to catch the 8. Sometimes a bus deadheading to run the 32 line will stop and give me a ride since it is on his way but instead the 8 showed up before him today.

Route 8            Bus 9240         1992 Orion V 40-foot bus

The bus had 5 passengers on board. I actually backtrack a short ways since the 44 comes of Highland Drive from Creek Road but by getting off at Alta my wait is shorter. I then get off at Bengal Blvd and walk uphill past BrightonHigh School to 2300 East then turn north for about a block to reach my duplex.
