Car Rental Prices

In another series of our quest to help you save money when traveling we are going to talk about rental cars and rental car taxes. Many times when we are planning a trip we will check how much the flight is but not the combination of the flight and rental car. Often times if you have a choice of airports you can save money buy checking not only the cost of the flight but the car rental.

Here is an example of how much you will pay on a full sized car from April 1st to April 7th in the Los Angeles area.

At LAX the cost of the rental would be $283.90 with a total cost of $358.56

At Long Beach the cost of the rental would be $234.89 with a total cost of $288.39

At the BurbankAirport the cost of the rental would be $277.90 with a total cost of $341.10

At the OntarioAirport the cost of the rental would be $212.90 with a total cost of $268.80

At the OrangeCountyAirport the cost of the rental would be $310.90 with a total cost of $379.98

So looking at rental car rates the OntarioAirport is the best value. However, when I booked my last trip flying into Ontario was substantially more expensive so we ended up flying into Long Beach which we have done a couple of times in the last year. Not only was the car rental was cheap but flying into Long Beach was $40.00 per passenger cheaper than LAX or Burbank, $80.00 per passenger cheaper than OrangeCounty, and $150.00 cheaper per passenger than Ontario.

So if you have the option of multiple airports such as New York, Washington DC, Miami area, Los Angeles, San Francisco among others remember to check car rental rates along with the price of the flight to find the best value for your dollar.
